Citizenship ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies are the final step in the process for people who have been successful in gaining British citizenship.

Successful applicants aged 18 or over must take part in a ceremony where they swear or affirm an Oath of Allegiance to His Majesty The King and pledge loyalty to the United Kingdom.

There is no legal requirement for those under 18 to attend.

When you receive your letter from the Home Office you will need to book your ceremony with us. You are required to attend a ceremony within three months of approval being granted.

Group ceremonies take place in the St Catherine's Room at our Seaclose Offices, Newport and last 20 minutes and can be booked below.

If you choose to have a private ceremony you will need to contact us.

Email registrars@iow.gov.uk to book your ceremony.
