Green Impact Toolkit for IW Businesses

Green Impact is a free way for Island businesses to improve their environmental performance and social responsibility. Green Impact provides an easy to use online toolkit. The Green Impact toolkit helps organisations take simple actions to become more:

  • eco-friendly
  • ethical
  • environmentally aware
  • and save on costs

Green Impact ran for two years before COVID, which was an award-winning success. The outcome of the last year’s audit was:

  • three organisations achieving gold awards
  • four achieving silver awards
  • one achieving a bronze award

21 companies achieved participation awards.

We calculate that this saved an estimated 7,642 kilograms of carbon dioxide. It also directly helped organisations’ save money on operational costs.

Once registered, you can get started with the online toolkit system. This is a dedicated toolkit is designed for businesses across the Isle of Wight. As a business you will choose the actions that best suit your business best. By completing the actions, you will gain points.

The points add up to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.

We'll be celebrating everyone's achievements at an awards ceremony at the beginning of next year.

LoCASE support and grants

Our staff can help businesses work through the toolkit via the LoCASE (Low Carbon Across the South and East) project. The project provides environmental training for businesses. It also funds our staff time to help with Green Impact activity.

For example:

  • We could help you identify your initial actions,
  • find any resources you might need,
  • or check back with you every few months to see how things are going.

If anything is identified through Green Impact that needs investment, such as:

  • solar panels,
  • marketing of environmental services
  • help with new green products,

Your business may be eligible to apply to LoCASE for grants up to £20,000.
