Parish and Town Council Vacancies

Details of all known Parish and Town Council Vacancies will be posted here. They are posted as and when the Proper Officer is notified of them. Updates to original postings will be added below the original post. The details will be removed after six months.

24 October 2022: Two vacancies have occurred on Arreton Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancies to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 10 November 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancies by means of co-option.

11 November 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancies by co-option. 

7 November 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Bembridge North Ward of Bembridge Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Friday 25 November 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

28 November 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

29 September 2022: Two vacancies have occurred on Brading Town Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancies to be filled by means of an election is Tuesday 18 October 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancies by means of co-option.

18 October 2022: The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancies to be filled by means of an election. Two candidates were nominated, and the election was therefore uncontested.

14 October 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Brighstone Ward of Brighstone Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 3 November 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

4 November 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

10 February 2023: Three vacancies have occurred in the Porchfield ward of Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield Parish Council. The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancies to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 2 March 2023. If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancies by means of co-option.

13 March 2023: The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancies to be filled by means of a by-election. 

Nominations open: Tuesday 14 March 2023.

Nominations close: 4:00pm on Wednesday 22 March 2023.

23 December 2022: A vacancy has occurred on Chillerton and Gatcombe Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 12 January 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

13 January 2023: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

9 February 2023: Two vacancies have occurred in the Cowes Medina ward of Cowes Town Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancies to be filled by means of an election is Wednesday 1 March 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancies by means of co-option.

2 March 2023: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Town Council will fill the vacancies by co-option. 

7 November 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Osborne Ward of East Cowes Town Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 24 November 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

25 November 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Town Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

15 September 2022: A vacancy has occurred on Fishbourne Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 6 October 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

7 October 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

19 January 2023: A vacancy has occurred in the Freshwater South ward of Freshwater Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Tuesday 7 February 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

8 February 2023: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

13 January 2023: A vacancy has occurred on Newchurch Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Wednesday 1 February 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

2 February 2023: The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancy to be filled by means of a by-election. Further details to follow.

Nominations close: at 4:00pm on Friday 24 February 2023.

23 February 2023: A further vacancy has occurred on Newchurch Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Wednesday 15 March 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

30 November 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Parkhurst and Hunnyhill ward of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Tuesday 20 December 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Community Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

21 December 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Community Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

6 February 2023: A vacancy has occurred on Rookley Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Friday 24 February 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

27 February 2023: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. 

30 August 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Ryde Appley and Elmfield Ward of Ryde Town Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Monday 19 September 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

26 September 2022: The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancy in the Ryde Appley and Elmfield ward to be filled by means of a by-election.

Nominations open: Thursday 29 September 2022.

Nominations close: 4:00pm on Friday 7 October 2022.

The election was contested, and the poll was taken on Thursday 3 November 2022.

23rd December 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Ryde North West ward of Ryde Town Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 12 January 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

10 January 2023: The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancy in the Ryde North West ward to be filled by means of a by-election.

Nominations closed: at 4:00pm on Friday 27 January 2023.

The poll will be taken on Thursday 23 February 2023.

26 September 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Shanklin Central Ward of Shanklin Town Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Friday 14 October 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

27 October 2022: The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancy in the Shanklin Central ward to be filled by means of a by-election.

Nominations open: Thursday 27 October 2022.

Nominations close: 4:00pm on Friday 4 November 2022.

The poll was taken on Thursday December 2022.

22 August 2022: A vacancy has occurred in the Whippingham North Ward of Whippingham Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Thursday 1 September 2022.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.

2 September 2022: The Proper Officer did not receive sufficient requests for a by-election to be held. The Parish Council will fill the Whippingham North Ward vacancy by co-option.

9 December 2022: A vacancy has occurred on Wootton Bridge Parish Council.

The last date for ten local government electors for the Parish to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Tuesday 3 January 2023.

If the required number of requests are not received then the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.
