Apprentice support
What support will I receive?
As an employee of the Council you will have many learning opportunities.
You will find out how you can build your skills during your induction. You will also learn:
- how the Council operates
- health and safety
- computer skills and systems
- equality and diversity
- all about working culture
Your line manager and your colleagues will guide, support and mentor you as you work.
Support for apprentices with a learning difficulty or disability
If you have a learning learning difficulty or disability you may be able to get extra support. This will help you complete apprenticeship.
To make sure you get the support you need:
- talk to your training provider and line manager about your learning difficulty or disability
- you do not need a formal diagnosis or evidence
- be open and up-front about what you need - this will benefit you and the people you work with
- have these conversations at an early stage
- talk about how your condition affects you and the way you work and learn
Support for care experienced apprentices
'Care experienced' refers to anyone who is in care, has been in care, or is from a looked after background.
You may be able to access extra funding to help you complete your apprenticeship. This may be a Care Leavers Bursary or other support.
